"I passionately believe robotics can make an enormous positive difference to farmers. Technology is allowing an ever-growing number of jobs done on many farms to be easily transferred to robots, freeing up time and resource to focus on the jobs which require human involvement. And the results are backing us up,with customers saving significant amounts of labour time/cost and improving yields. And we are still only the early foothills of what we’ll see in coming years!"

As a biologist, Johanna Bac-Molenaar is inspired by the nature around her. She is fascinated by the wondrous processes that ensure that inanimate things come to life. During her studies in biology and in her PhD research, she specialized in the study of plants and their interaction with the environment. She currently works as a 'Plant Health' researcher at the Greenhouse Horticulture business unit of Wageningen University and Research. Strengthening the plant's natural defenses against diseases and pests is central to many of her projects. Because she is involved in many strawberry projects, she also became a specialist in strawberry cultivation. Cultivation choices, such as type of substrate, fertilization, irrigation strategy, light spectrum, plant density, influence the natural defenses of the plant. Her goal is to work on resilient cultivation systems where increasing plant resilience is supported by the aforementioned cultivation choices.

As the power of social media has grown so much the past few years, influencer marketing has never been so important. I am Chloé , a masters student of medicine and 3 years ago I became a food influencer. It would be a great pleasure for me to tell you my ‘Instagramstory’. My brother who has a bachelor degree in marketing will join me and fill in my story from a more theoretical point of view. We will enforce our view on influencer marketing with astonishing statistics in an interactive way.
Being able to tell the stories of people within the fresh produce industry, who grow and feed the world, is a privilege. Turning their stories and produce into brands is an exciting challenge, one my 14 years of experience within PR and digital media has prepared me for.
Social media and the ever-changing digital landscape enable me, and the team at Coregeo, to create powerfully crafted stories that resonate in wider culture. Stories that bring to life the passion and dedication within the world of fresh produce. Finding an audience for those stories, and then engaging that audience is the challenge that keeps this job fresh.

“Strawberry industry is important in all EU countries, adopting different cultivation systems depending to the climatic conditions and type of agricultural technologies available. Coöperatie Hoogstraten represent the most advanced model for strawberry industry in center of EU and now spreading in different part of the world. The previous editions or the Strawberry symposium organized by Coöperatie Hoogstraten have been of high impact to bridge a gap between the strawberry academic and the industrial aspects on an international range: from research to production, from the market to the consumer.I am sure that the Strawberry Congress they are planning for September 2022 will still be a great example of scientific and technical interaction for the strawberry world, particularly awaited after the long period of restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
"The International Strawberry Congress is an excellent opportunity for scientists to meet again, and to exchange and discuss newest insights of strawberry research. As a scientist I think it is fantastic to also get a taste of strawberry commercialization topics at this conference, and to be able to expand my network in the strawberry industry. After a long break of international meetings, I’m looking forward to catch up with all strawberry professionals in Antwerp again!"
“The previous Congresses offered an exciting program with strawberry experts from around the globe in the historic city of Antwerp. The day-long tour of strawberry operation in the Netherlands and Belgium provided a glimpse of modern glasshouse fruit and transplant production technology. This is an excellent venue to share and exchange knowledge and ideas with your old colleagues and students from around the world interested in advancing the science and cultivation of the strawberry and delivering high quality and flavorful berries to consumers. I encourage all in the strawberry community to attend the Congress in 2022!”
